Breaking away from the King's pursuing armies, the few Hawks left contemplate their future. Gutts comforts Caska, who is despondent over Griffith's condition. Griffith begins to dream/hallucinate and escapes in a wagon. He tried to commit suicide...but failed. His blood dropped onto the Behelit which creates a solar eclipse and transforms the landscape into a scene from hell.
