The himmapan.com site really make me feel tired because now I have to update the pages constantly and keep updating the info within. Anyhow, since the site is sponsored by Memorydust, I decided to contrbute a piece of Vector art for him and this is it.

Last few days I finally got some time to learn a new trick for creating fiber materials which can be applied to render things like hair, beard, or mustache. After reading back and fourth a few times (I have quite a hard time understanding things clearly when it comes to new techniques, perhaps I'm getting too old :)), I decided to give it a try and here's the result.

I've read a bit about Buddha & Bodhisattva and I'd like to share with my friends. Too bad most of the text I have is impossible (or at least for me) to translate into English and holding the same meaning as in Thai. I'll post the original Thai text follow by brief summary in English.

"พระพุทธเจ้า คือผู้ที่เป็นศาสดาเอกในพุทธศาสนา แบ่งพระพุทธเจ้าออกเป็น 3 ประเภท
1.ปัญญาพุทธเจ้า คือพระพุทธเจ้าที่สร้างบารมีโดยใช้ปัญญาเป็นตัวนำ ระยะเวลาการสร้างบารมีทั้งหมด 20 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากัป คือปรารถนาอยู่ในใจเป็นเวลา 7 อสงไขย หลังจากนั้นออกปากกล่าววาจาต่อพระพักตร์พระพุทธเจ้าเป็นเวลา 9 อสงไขย รวมเป็น 16 อสงไขย และได้เป็นพระนิยตะโพธิสัตว์ ได้รับพุทธพยากรณ์ ครั้งแรก เหลืออีก 4 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากัป เป็นการสร้างบารมีอย่างยิ่งและเข็มงวดขึ้นเรื่อย และได้รับพยากรณ์ช้ำมาตลอดเมื่อได้พบกับพระพุทธเจ้า จนถึงสมัยพุทธภูมิของท่าน

2. ศรัทธาพุทธเจ้า คือพระพุทธเจ้าที่สร้างบารมีโดยใช้ศรัทธาเป็นตัวนำ ระยะเวลาการสร้างบารมีทั้งหมด 40 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากัป คือปรารถนาอยู่ในใจเป็นเวลา 14 อสงไขย หลังจากนั้นออกปากกล่าววาจาต่อพระพักตร์พระพุทธเจ้าเป็นเวลา 18 อสงไขย รวมเป็น 32 อสงไขย และได้เป็นพระนิยตะโพธิสัตว์ ได้รับพุทธพยากรณ์ครั้งแรก เหลืออีก 8 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากัป เป็นการสร้างบารมีอย่างยิ่งและเข็มงวดขึ้นเรื่อย และได้รับพยากรณ์ช้ำมาตลอดเมื่อได้พบกับพระพุทธเจ้า จนถึงสมัยพุทธภูมิของท่าน

3. วิริยะพุทธเจ้า คือพระพุทธเจ้าที่สร้างบารมีโดยใช้วิริยะเป็นตัวนำ ระยะเวลาการสร้างบารมีทั้งหมด 80 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากับล์ คือปรารถนาอยู่ในใจเป็นเวลา 28 อสงไขย หลังจากนั้นออกปากกล่าววาจาต่อพระพักตร์พระพุทธเจ้าเป็นเวลา 36 อสงไขย รวมเป็น 64 อสงไขย และได้เป็นพระนิยตะโพธิสัตว์ ได้รับพุทธพยากรณ์ครั้งแรก เหลืออีก 16 อสงไขยกับเศษแสนมหากัป เป็นการสร้างบารมีอย่างยิ่งและเข็มงวดขึ้นเรื่อย และได้รับพยากรณ์ช้ำมาตลอดเมื่อได้พบกับพระพุทธเจ้า จนถึงสมัยพุทธภูมิของท่าน

ซึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าองค์ปัจจุบันนี้ มีพระนามว่า พระศรีศากยมนีโคดมพุทธเจ้า พระองค์ทรงสร้างบารมีมาทาง ปัญญาพุทธเจ้า

พระโพธิสัตว์ คือบุคคลที่ปรารถนาเพื่อจะเป็นพระพุทธเจ้าในอนาคต แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท

1.พระโพธิสัตว์ที่ยังไม่ได้รับพยากรณ์จากพระพุทธเจ้าองค์ก่อนมาเลย เรียกว่า อนิยตะโพธิสัตว์ ความหมายคือยังไม่แน่นอนว่าจะได้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้า เพราะอาจจะเลิกล้มความปรารถนาเมื่อไรก็ได้

2.พระโพธิสัตว์ที่ได้รับพยากรณ์จากพระพุทธเจ้าองค์ก่อนมาแล้ว เรียกว่า นิยตะโพธิสัตว์ ตามความหมายคือจะได้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้าอย่างแน่นนอน เพราะถ้าถึงนิพพานต้องดำรงค์ฐานะเป็นพระพุทธเจ้าอย่างเดียว แต่ถ้าบารมีและเวลายังไม่สมบูรณ์ แม้ว่าจะพยายามปฏิบัติอย่างยิ่งยวดบังเกิดปัญญาอย่างเยียมยอด ก็ไม่สามารถถึงนิพพานก่อนได้ แม้จะทุกข์ท้อแท้ จนคิดว่าเลิกที่จะเป็นพระพุทธเจ้าแล้ว แต่แล้วในที่สุดมหากุศลที่เป็นอนุสัย ก็จะพุ่งกระจายขึ้นมาให้ตั้งมั่นและบำเพ็ญบารมีกันต่อ จนกว่าบารมีและเวลาสมบูรณ์

จากบทความข้างบน ผู้อ่านคงได้อ่านคำว่า อสงไขย และ กัป มาแล้ว ผู้เขียนจะอธิบายสั้นๆ ให้ทราบดังนี้
- กัป เป็นหน่วยวัดเวลา ในเชิงประมาณ คือ เมื่อโลกมนุษย์ปราฏกขึ้นหรือบังเกิดขึ้น จนพังสูญหายไป 1 ครั้งเรียกว่า 1 กัป
- อสงไขย เป็นหน่วยวัดเวลา ที่มากกว่ากัป คือจำนวณกัป ที่นับไม่ถ้วน เท่ากับ 1 อสงไขย (ตามที่เคยคำนวณมา 1 อสงไขย เท่ากับ จำนวน กัป ที่เอาเลข 1 ตามด้วย เลข 0 ถึง 140 ตัว)
- ต่อไปคำว่า สูญกัป หมายถึงกัปที่ไม่มีพระพุทธเจ้าบังเกิดขึ้น "

Brief Summary:

Buddhas
There are 3 types of Buddha in Buddhism
1. Panya Buddha or those who became Buddhas by mean of Panya (or Wisdom)
2. Satta Buddha or those who became Buddhas by mean of Satta (or Faith)
3. Wiriya Buddha or those who became Buddhas by mean of Wiriya (or Perseverance)

The latest Buddha or Shakyamuni succeeded and became Buddha by Panya.

Bodhisattvas
A Bodhisattva is anyone who is motivated by compassion and seeks enlightenment not only for him/herself but also for everyone. There are 2 types of Bodhisattva:

1. Aniyata Bodhisattva or Bodhisattva who have yet been foretold whether they will become Buddhas for certain.

2. Niyata Bodhisattva or Bodhisattva who have been told by a Buddha that they will become Buddhas in the future.

I enjoy spending a bit of my time to learn new thing everyday because I feel like life is full of knowledge that's ready to be learned from. At the moment, I've finished reading the manual for the program I bought (ZBrush) and able to do simple models with it now (see?) Next thing I need to do is spend more and more time to polish my skill as a 3D artist. It's quite tough, I might add. It requires a lot of hours and a lot of patience. But one day...one day I'll harvest that skill.

Learning can be rather expensive. I've been spending a lot of cash on software which I use for my professional works. The one I used rather extensively before was Corel Painter 6. I did try version 8, the most up-to-date version of this software. But I feel that the older version works much better for me. This piece of software costs me $299 (approximately 11,960 Thai Baht). The latest one I bought is ZBrush which is a very fine 3D modeling software and that was $399 (15,960 Baht).

Those are my 2 main programs for now......The damage was $698 or around 27,920 Baht. Learning is truly expensive. I'm also plan to purchase a new software which should be available sometime next year. VUE 5. It is a world building software allowing realistic rendition of environment and stuff. It will also complement ZBrush as ZBrush can do a very good job on modeling and VUE can be used to create backgrounds for those models. I've tested the current version of this software for about an hour (see image above). I'd rate it as a very good software for its purpose. But the price is a bit steep as it will cost me another $599 (23,960 Baht) when the newest release arrived. I'll be poor for a long while.
